Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews have been out treating highways in Crittenden County since about midnight where parts of the county received about an inch of accumulation overnight. Ballard, Carlisle, Calloway, and Trigg have put trucks on the road spreading salt since around 3:00 AM. Calloway County reports enough accumulation to plow in some areas.
Crews have focused on "A" Snow Priority Routes overnight. Most are down to wet pavement with a few slushy spots. District 2 crews are ramping up at this hour to start working on "B" and "C" priority routes in an attempt to improve driving conditions for the morning commute.
Motorists are advised to use caution. Temperatures have remained in the 20's, allowing salt to remain effective. Most of the snow is fairly wet which allows some traction. However, additional stopping distance is required due to the slippery conditions at some intersections.
