There were several key races being voted on in Marshall County during Tuesday's Primary Election.

In the Republican primary race for 6th District State Representative, Chris Freeland defeated Randall D. Fox. Freeland finished with 1,189 votes. Fox had 664 votes.

In the Republican primary for Marshall County Sheriff, Eddie McGuire defeated James D. Winnans. McGuire finished with 1,530 votes to Winnans 222 votes.

In the Republican primary for 3rd District County Commissioner, Monti R. Collins defeated Buster Lovelace 468 votes to 141 votes.

In the Democratic primary for 6th District State Representative, Linda Story Edwards defeated Al Cunningham and Drew Williams. Edwards finished with 2,484 votes. Cunningham was next with 1,480 votes and Williams had 1,231 votes.

In the Democratic primary for Marshall County Sheriff, Incumbent Kevin Byars held off a challenge from Trent Weaver. Byars finished with 2,740 votes. Weaver had 2,639 votes.

In the Democratic primary for 1st District Commissioner, Justin Lamb beat Jerome "Lee" Hicks, Robert "Bob" Gold and Ronnie Heath. Lamb finished with 1,020 votes. Gold was next with 784 votes. Hicks had 358 votes and Heath finished with 64 votes.

And in the Democratic primary for Marshall County Coroner, Barry Dean Taylor defeated Tracy C. Steven. Taylor finished with 3,190 votes. Steven had 2,009 votes.
