The National Weather Service office in Paducah has issued a special weather statement for the area concerning the chance for localized heavy rains in thunderstorms tonight and Thursday.

Even though plenty of sunshine will once again bring on 100-degree heat indices in many areas today, isolated thunderstorms could develop beginning this morning, and increasing in coverage this afternoon.

As showers and thunderstorms become more widespread this evening, the main concern will be heavy rain and lightning. Some localized flooding issues could crop up in locations where the heaviest rain occurs later tonight and Thursday.

Widespread rains will move out of the area on Thursday, but not before more heavy rains are possible.
