Illegal Dumping Reported in Marshall County
By West Kentucky Star Staff
MARSHALL COUNTY - The Marshall County Sheriff's Office has been receiving numerous complaints about illegal dumping in the county.

The Marshall County Road Department has recently been on Lee Burd Road to clear out garbage in a large ditch. Since Halloween, someone has dumped their fall decorations into the ditch, and later someone dumped building materials and other garbage in the same ditch.

In late October at Marshall County's Buckhorn Bay day use park, someone in a large red diesel truck and trailer dumped driveway sealer and fuel off the side of the parking lot into the trees toward the waterway. Emergency Management had to be called out to handle the biohazard.

Earlier in November, someone dumped deer carcasses in the same location.

Criminal Littering is a Class A misdemeanor and punishable by a fine of up to $500.

Marshall County provides a centrally located main dump and several transfer station sites throughout the county for it's residents.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the illegal dumping to contact them. They remind everyone that illegal dumping will lead to charges and prosecution.
