Graves County Home Invaders Arraigned

MAYFIELD, KY - The three men accused of killing a Graves County man and wounding his wife last month were arraigned Monday in Graves Circuit Court.
Status conferences for Richard Phipps, James Kirby and Edwin Russell are scheduled for April 10 while pretrial conferences are set for April 23. Attorneys for all three men entered not guilty pleas for their respective clients.
The three men are accused of forcing their way into the home of Richard and Sharon Jett last month in an attempt to rob the home. Both Richard and Sharon were shot multiple times. Richard died a few days after the shooting. Sharon is still recovering from her wounds.
Kirby and Phipps face murder and attempted murder charges. Russell, who is accused of planning the crime, is charged with complicity to murder and attempted murder. The three men also face wanton endangerment charges stemming from the Jett’s daughter and grandchild being in the home at the time of the incident.
