A grand jury indicted Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon Thursday on drug and official misconduct charges.
According to the indictment, Redmon is accused of taking drugs from the department's drug drop box to keep for himself. He was also reportedly found with Hydrocodone.
Redmon is charged with official misconduct and first degree possession of a controlled substance.
Kentucky State Police began investigating Redmon after receiving a tip in early July. His attorney, Bryan Wilson released a statement at that time, saying Redmon was taking time off to deal with "a variety of health issues".
