The near record cold air settling overtop the region tonight is very dry and not conducive for widespread fog, despite clear skies and light winds. However, in select patches, mainly in a low-lying or typically fog prone area, motorists may encounter a brief patch of reduced visibility.
If driving, slow down and be cautious, especially if traveling through hilly terrain or other rural setting where patchy fog is more likely to occur.
With the cold temperatures, the fog will be freezing fog, and may help create slick patches roadways that may have been cleared. Hard-to-see refreezing ice may also be present and create a travel hazard... so travel with caution during these early morning hours.
Lots of early morning sunshine should help burn off any lingering isolated patches of fog and likewise help continue to improve overall road conditions.
