The Kentucky Department of Corrections has announced the promotion of Steven Ford to deputy warden at Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville, effective Sept. 1.

Ford began his career with the Department of Corrections in May 1997 as an officer at the Green River Correctional Complex, and by 2001 was promoted twice to the rank of lieutenant, where he served as yard supervisor, segregation supervisor, adjustment officer, and internal affairs officer.

Ford was promoted to Unit Administrator positions in 2007 and 2010, where he supervised all of the housing units at Green River, while still supervising the Internal Affairs and Security Threat Group sections.

A 22-year retired United States Army veteran, Ford served in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, as well as other combat, operational, and peace-keeping deployments.
