The Dorena-Hickman Ferry has ceased operation due to rising floodwaters on the Mississippi River.

Based on the river forecast at Cairo, Captain Jeremy Newsom says the ferry is likely to remain closed until around April 23rd.

The ferry was forced to shut down in March as well, but resumed operation earlier this month. At that time, water levels on the upper Mississippi River led Newsom to believe there would be another shutdown when floodwaters reached our area.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry connects KY 1354 at Hickman, Kentucky, with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena, Missouri.
