The 135th annual Fancy Farm Picnic is set for this weekend, as thousands will flock to St. Jerome Church for barbecue, bingo and bluegrass politics.

The picnic is held each year on the first Saturday in August. Friday evening at 5 o'clock is the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry at the KC Hall. A 1-mile classic run begins at 6pm, followed by a 5K Fun Run at 7pm.

Saturday is the official start of the picnic, with bingo, games, music and food starting at 10am. A home-cooked meal served continuously in the KC Hall starts at 11am.

Political speaking starts at 2pm. Taking center stage at this year's round of political speeches will be the campaign for governor - pitting Democrat Jack Conway against Republican Matt Bevin.

More than 10,000 people are expected to attend Saturday's picnic, which is a fundraiser for St. Jerome Church. Approximately $250,000 is raised each year.
