The Dorena-Hickman Ferry has resumed service after an extended shutdown due to flooding.

The ferry has been closed since January 12, when floodwaters on the Mississippi River went above 44 feet on the Cairo river gage.

Captain Jeremy Newsom said floodwaters have dropped sufficiently to allow the ferry to resume service on their normal winter schedule.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry connects KY 1354 at Hickman with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena, Missouri.
