People are arriving in large numbers for eclipse weekend in Christian County, and WKDZ radio says officials are keeping a close eye on everything.

Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says signs are up to help direct visitors on the roadways.

"We got 100,000 to 150,000 folks coming into Christian County and we wanna be able to get them in here, so we've developed traffic flow patterns and worked with state transportation and some private partnerships to bring in digital signage so that we can get that message up and get folks around the different roads and transportation routes that we've  got to get them where they want to be," Graham said.

He said in spite of rumors that some roads would be closed or have contra-traffic flow during this time, no roads will be closed and all roads will use their normal traffic pattern.

Graham thanked the multiple officials who have worked together over the past year to get ready for the eclipse.

Graham said, "You can't do this as an individual agency, you have to have buy-in from all the agencies, departments, the private sector, and in Christian County we have a strong team. We've all came together and it's just been a planning effort that has just been the epitome of collaboration, cooperation and partnerships."

WKDZ reports the first visitor to a city site arrived at 1 am Friday.

Traffic has reportedly gotten heavier in Lyon, Trigg and Christian Counties through Friday afternoon, and the trend is likely to continue through the evening and again on Saturday.

State officials say Governor Matt Bevin will visit Hopkinsville on Monday to view the eclipse.
