U.S. Rep. James Comer says the final product will be the "most impactful legislation" signed into law this year.
The conference committee role is a plum assignment for Comer, who is still in his first full term in the House. He represents a rural district that relies heavily on agriculture.
The committee will work out differences between the House and Senate versions of the farm bill.
Comer said, “I’m proud of my role representing Kentucky agriculture and enthusiastic to get to work ironing out a final Farm Bill with my colleagues that will give our farmers confidence the federal government has their back.”
He says he'll also be a big advocate for including language in the farm bill to legalize hemp.Kentucky has been at the forefront of hemp's comeback, and Comer has been a big advocate since he was state agriculture commissioner.
