According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call of a reckless driver in the Pryorsburg area. Deputies spotted the vehicle traveling northbound on US 45 South in Pryorsburg.
Police said the vehicle ran off the road numerous times as deputies began to follow it with lights and sirens activated. The vehicle then crossed into the southbound lane while still traveling northbound as traffic was coming toward it.
Deputies took action and conducted a PIT maneuver in order to disable the vehicle. The vehicle came to a stop and then rolled back into a patrol vehicle, striking it for a second time.
The driver, 52-year-old Gary D. Lyman of Clinton told deputies he had taken Ambien and Tylenol 3. He was placed under arrest and charged with reckless driving, wanton endangerment (police officer), DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and fleeing or evading police.
