A single-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in Crittenden County claimed a child's life.

According to the Crittenden County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened just after 3 pm on US 60 East in the Rosebud area. Deputies said a pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Elizabeth McConnell of Fredonia lost traction due to the wet pavement. The truck spun and left the road, striking a tree on the passenger side.

A passenger in the vehicle, 21-month-old Liliana McConnell, was pronounced dead at the scene by Crittenden County Coroner Brad Gilbert. Elizabeth McConnell was transported to Crittenden County Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Police said both occupants were properly restrained.
