The high heat and humidity are likely to continue through the weekend, with possible storms.

A heat advisory for Saturday expired at 8 pm. Based on data from the National Weather Service website, the high temperature reached 98 degrees, with a heat index of at least 111.

Scattered thunderstorms will continue Saturday night. The highest potential for strong storms and heavy rainfall will be west of a line from Paducah to Harrisburg. There is a slight risk of excessive rainfall in that area. An isolated severe storm with damaging wind cannot be ruled out.

Scattered thunderstorms are also expected Sunday and Monday. While a few stronger storms with damaging winds cannot be ruled out Sunday and Monday, the main concerns include lightning and locally heavy rain.

Heat indices are forecast to top the century mark both Sunday and Monday afternoons.
