Two people from Arkansas were injured, one seriously, in a motorcycle accident just south of Bardwell on Saturday.

The Carlisle County Sheriff's Department said the accident occurred near the intersection of US Highway 51 and Kentucky Highway 1229.  Witnesses said the motorcycle reportedly hit a patch of loose gravel and freshly-cut grass, left the road and came to rest in a ditch.

Both riders, 50-year-old Edward Ormsee of Harrisburg, Arkansas and 47-year-old Deborah Roberts of Bono Craighead, Arkansas were thrown from the motorcycle and were not wearing helmets.

Ormsee was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital by Air Evac for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Roberts was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
