A tornado was sighted over Calvert City Saturday night, part of a number of isolated but fierce storms that dotted the radar late in the day.

The twister was first reported to the National Weather Service at 9:08 p.m., and further reports tracked it a mile southeast of the city by 9:15.

No immediate reports of damage were called in as of Saturday night.

The tornado was part of a disorganized line of thunderstorms that flared up to severe levels first over Massac County, IL. At about 8:30 p.m., 50-mph winds brought down tree limbs at Highway 145 and Country Club Road northeast of Metropolis. Torrential rains and 50-mph gusts were reported northeast of Brookport.

The same storms crossed the Ohio River into Livingston County, then through Calvert City and the Kentucky Dam Village area.
