Calvert City Man Faces Drug, DUI Charges

A Wednesday traffic stop led to drug, DUI and other charges for a Calvert City man.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, deputies got a tip that 51-year-old David A. Marshall was driving on a suspended license and that he may have been involved in illegal drug activity.

Police said a deputy saw Marshall turning on to PB Cloud Lane from US 62 and pulled him over. When the officer got to Marshall's vehicle, he said he could smell alcohol, and that Marshall gave consent to a search of the vehicle.

During the search, police said they found an open alcoholic beverage container along with pills in bottles with no labels on them, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A small tin can was also reportedly found that had a baggie containing a white powdery substance that tested positive for meth.

Marshall was arrested and charged with operating on a suspended or revoked license,  DUI, possessing license when privileges revoked, failure to notify Department of Transportation, of address change, failure to surrender revoked operators license, possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle, prescription controlled substance not in proper container, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking in marijuana < 8oz., possession of controlled substance 1st degree (Methamphetamine), possession of controlled substance 2nd degree and two counts of possession of controlled substance 3rd Degree. He was booked into the Marshall County Detention Center.
