Calloway Pursuit Leads to New Concord Man's Arrest

A New Concord man was arrested Monday afternoon after a police pursuit in Calloway County.

The Calloway County Sheriff's Office says a deputy attempted to stop a truck at around 3:45 p.m. on Kline Trail in the New Concord community.

The driver of the vehicle, 53-year-old Dennis Payton, attempted to flee and a pursuit began. Payton eventually got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. He was apprehended a short time later.
 
Deputies said a search of the area led to the discovery of marijuana and other personal items.

Payton was arrested and booked into the Calloway County Jail on charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of marijuana, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and various traffic violations.
