The driver of a Calloway County school bus was injured in a crash Friday morning.

The Calloway County Sheriff's Department said the accident happened about 6:50 am on Radio Road near Dexter. The driver of the bus, 49-year-old Terie D. Swift of Murray, had just started her bus route and there were no children on board. Swift told deputies that a deer ran into the path of the bus, and she swerved to miss it, and the bus dropped off the right side of the road. She over-corrected and the bus crossed the opposite lane of travel, coming to a stop on its side in a ditch.

Swift was taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital by Calloway County Ambulance Service for treatment of her injuries. Calloway County Fire and Rescue helped at the scene, along with Murray Fire Department.
