A traffic stop Wednesday in Marshall County led to drug charges against a Benton man.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, a deputy was on a traffic stop on Briensburg-Tatumsville Road when he learned the passenger in the vehicle had an active warrant out of McCracken County. When police searched the suspect, 19-year-old Joseph McClelland, they found a used syringe and digital scales that reportedly had residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

McClelland was placed under arrest for the warrant. He was also charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
