A western Kentucky man accused of murder was in court Wednesday for a pre-trial conference.

Tyler Jones is facing charges of murder, tampering with evidence, and burglary, related to the shooting death of 15-year-old Peyton Hurt of Boaz in June of last year.

The Livingston County Circuit Court Clerk's Office confirmed to West Kentucky Star that Commonwealth's Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins filed a motion before Judge C.A. Woodall that would exclude Hurt's toxicology results from evidence, saying they were irrelevant to the case against Jones. His attorney, Audrey Lee, asked the judge to deny the motion, and Woodall has not yet issued a ruling.

Another pre-trial conference is scheduled for September 18, with a trial scheduled for October 17.

Police said last summer that Jones shot Hurt in the head at close range at a party in Ledbetter, and four witnesses identified him as the shooter. Reports also show that witnesses told State Troopers Jones and Hurt argued about accusations of him cheating on his fiance, and he was "in a fit of rage."
