River levels are steadily falling, and have dropped from moderate to minor flood stage at two area locations, and out of flood stage at another.

The National Weather Service reports the Ohio River at Cairo has fallen almost four feet in the seven days, from 49.15 feet to 45.1 feet by Saturday morning. It's expected to fall below flood stage, which is 40 feet, on Thursday.

At Olmsted Dam, water levels have dropped from 43.69 feet last weekend to 40.5 feet on Saturday morning. Flood stage is 36 feet, and the Ohio River should drop below that mark on Wednesday.

In Paducah, the Ohio River has been easing downward through the week, with a high mark of 41.17 feet on Monday, and was at 38.26 feet on Saturday morning, which means it is now below flood stage of 39 feet.

River levels at all three locations are forecast to continue to drop by 6-7 feet by next weekend.
