Alzheimer’s Support Group Meets Monthly in Benton

The Alzheimer’s Association will host a monthly support group in Benton for family members and caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s or another dementia related disease.

The group will meet on the first Wednesday of each month, at the Marshall County Public Library in Benton. According to a press release, the setting is a small discussion group with an emphasis on sharing feelings, thoughts, experiences and education. The meetings typically last an hour.  

Teresa Thompson, Community Educator for the Murray-Calloway County Hospital Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit and volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association facilitates the support group along with volunteer co-facilitator, Michelle Goodwin, RN of Calvert City Convalescent Center. The support group’s next meeting is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, February 5 at 10 a.m., at the Marshall County Public Library, located on Poplar Street in Benton Kentucky.  

The support group is a free resource and anyone in the area who provides care for someone with dementia are invited to attend.
