UPDATE: Debbie Seltsam, MCCD Adm. Secretary says all seedlings have been given away. She says they will be giving away more trees next March.

Spring has sprung, and if you act fast you might be able to get your hands on some free trees this week in McCracken County.

The McCracken County Conservation District will give away free tree seedlings on Thursday and Friday at their office located at 5470 US Highway 60 West, across from Tractor Supply from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, or until all trees are given away.

Varieties of tree seedlings to be given away include persimmon, white oak, southern red oak, yellow poplar, chestnut oak, grey dogwood, roughleaf dogwood, eastern redbud, and loblolly pine.

Anyone with questions can call 270-408-1244 or 270-554-5242, or email mcccd@vci.net.

The free seedlings have been snatched up pretty quickly in the past, so anyone who's interested is advised to come early.
