Another Mayfield police officer being investigated for allegedly violating departmental regulations has resigned.
Mayor Teresa Rochetti-Cantrell says Maj. Shannon Keller, who was suspended on June 6, resigned Monday amid the ongoing investigation into possible violations of departmental regulations.
Lt. Chris Watkins, who was also under investigation, resigned on Friday.
Rochetti-Cantrell said neither officer will be investigated further. Had the investigation continued, Rochetti-Cantrell said both officers could have faced formal charges.
"Mr. Keller resigned from his position with the Mayfield Police Department to pursue other career opportunities. I am pleased with this result, and believe that it is the best outcome for the citizens of Mayfield and the officers of the Mayfield Police Department." Rochetti-Cantrell said.
Officials have not released details about the specific nature of the alleged violations.
