Two people were arrested near Mayfield after a search found drugs in the same room with a child.

Graves County Sheriff's deputies searched a home Thursday night just off of KY 384 near Mayfield after being tipped to drug activity. They said methamphetamine, suboxone and drug paraphernalia were found in the same room with a child living in the home.

The resident, 37-year-old Alexsandra D. Smithson of Mayfield, reportedly told deputies that the items were hers.

A man who was also in the home, 46-year-old Charles C. Moore of Mayfield, had outstanding warrants from a case investigated in November when his room at a hotel was searched but he was not found.

Smithson is facing charges of wanton endangerment, possession of methamphetamine and suboxone, and obstructing governmental operations.

Moore is charged with possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.

The child was taken to a safe place with assistance from the Department for Community Based Services.
