Saline Co. Man's Homicide Trial Postponed
By The Associated Press
HARRISBURG, IL - The trial of a Harrisburg man accused of killing his wife has been postponed after a motion filed by the Saline County State's Attorney.

The Southern Illinoisan  reports the state's motion to hear Brian Burns' aggravated kidnapping trial before his homicide trial was approved Thursday.

Burns was arrested last March on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of manslaughter after he allegedly killed his wife Carla and burned her remains. Burns was later charged with solicitation, conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping and attempt of aggravated kidnapping after allegedly trying to contract the kidnapping of State's Attorney Mike Henshaw while in jail.

Defense attorney Bryan Drew anticipates the March 22 trial initially set for the homicide case will be used for the kidnapping case. The pretrial motion hearing for Burns' homicide trial was rescheduled for May 19.
