Regional river levels fell steadily over the weekend, and the Ohio River has begun to return to its banks at some gauges.

At Golconda, the river has fallen from 43.97 feet on Friday morning to 37.9 feet Monday morning. Flood stage is 40 feet.

At Smithland, the Friday morning gauge was 41 feet. It's now below the 40-foot flood stage to 34.2 feet Monday.

On the Paducah riverfront, water levels have also fallen below flood stage, from 41.5 feet Friday morning to 34.6 feet Monday. Flood stage is 39 feet.

At Brookport, floodwaters were at 43.4 feet Friday morning, and are just above flood stage Monday morning at 37.4 feet. Levels should drop below flood stage (37 feet) by Monday evening.

At Grand Chain, IL, the river was at 47.5 feet and 42.9 feet Monday. The river will fall below flood stage by Monday evening.

In Cairo, the river was at 47 feet Friday and 42 feet Monday morning. Water should drop below the 40-foot flood level by Tuesday.
