A Paducah man faces a litany of charges after a Wednesday morning high-speed police chase that crossed state lines.

At around 8:00 am Wednesday, law enforcement agencies from both Kentucky and Illinois were involved in a vehicle pursuit stemming from a McCracken County domestic assault.

Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a reported domestic assault at 120 Hollow Cove in Paducah.  While deputies were en route to the call, they learned that  the suspect, 29-year-old Brian K. Mannon of Paducah was leaving the scene in a vehicle. A deputy arrived and saw Mannon pulling out of Happy Hollow Drive onto Husband Road, and attempted to pull him over. Police said Mannon refused to stop, and accelerated on Husband Road, turned right onto Puryear Drive and got onto I-24 westbound at exit 11.

Police said Mannon still refused to stop, reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour during the chase. As Mannon approached exit 3, deputies used spike strips to try to stop him. Mannon ran over the strips, but continued on I-24 into Illinois.

As McCracken County deputies entered Illinois, Massac County Sheriff’s deputies, Metropolis police and Illinois State Police assisted in the pursuit. Just as Mannon entered Illinois and cleared the I-24 bridge, police said he attempted to go around a tractor trailer, and hit a Massac County Sheriff’s cruiser, injuring a deputy. Shortly thereafter, Mannon came to a stop and was taken into custody to the Massac County Jail.

The injured deputy was taken to Massac Memorial Hospital, treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.

Mannon faces charges in Kentucky and Illinois, including fleeing and evading; reckless driving; operating on a suspended license; DUI; failure to avoid a collision; assault 4th degree domestic violence; and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Police said more charges are possible.
