A Metropolis woman has been arrested, and a Paducah woman is being sought on prescription forgery charges.

A Paducah Police drug investigator was contacted July 18 by a local pharmacist, who said he had received a suspicious prescription. The pharmacist called the prescribing physician’s office and learned that the prescription was a forgery. The pharmacist also reportedly learned that two previous prescriptions filled by the same person, 36-year-old Andrea Hinson, were also forgeries.

Detectives said they spoke with employees of the physician’s office and determined the prescriptions likely had been written by an employee at the pharmacy, 37-year-old Lisa Johnston of Metropolis. Police said Johnston admitted to forging three Oxycodone prescriptions for Hinson.

Johnston also reportedly told police she had written other prescriptions in a relative’s name, and had them filled at a different local pharmacy for herself.

Johnston is charged with 14 counts of forgery of a prescription. She turned herself in Monday and was arrested and booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.

Hinson has been charged with three counts of attempting to or obtaining a controlled substance by forgery or fraud.

Police are asking anyone with information about Hinson's whereabouts to call them at 270-444-8550 or Crime Stoppers at 270-443-TELL.
