Negotiations between Honeywell and USW union workers at the Metropolis plant have made some progress.

On their website, the union said the two parties exchanged proposals Wednesday on grievance procedures, bereavement, probation, interruptions of work, jury duty, and health and safety. They said an agreement on grievance procedures could be close. Tuesday's discussions also included proposals on seniority and holidays.

Honeywell issued a statement Wednesday saying discussions were productive, and said an agreement was reached on bereavement policy, while "significant progress" was made on grievances.

The statement continued, "While the company and union still have a significant number of critical topics to discuss, the company is encouraged by the talks to date and remains committed to bargaining with the union in good faith with the mutual goal of a fair and equitable agreement.”
