A Metropolis woman was arrested Friday after a chase on shoplifting and resisting arrest charges.

The Metropolis Police Department says officers were called Friday to a report of a shoplifter at the Family Dollar Store on West 10th Street. The caller told officers the woman left riding a bicycle and was wearing a blue hoodie and pink backpack.

Officers began searching the area, and found the woman, 47-year-old Lisa D. Oetjen crossing 19th at Speckman. When Oetgen saw the police car, she fled on the bike, and then on foot. Officers caught her as she attempted to hide behind an air conditioning unit beside a home in the 500 block of West 20th Street.

Oetjen was arrested and charged with retail theft and resisting arrest.  She was booked into the Massac County Detention Center.
