Every day Superman fans pull off of I-24 at Metropolis to take a selfie with the Man of Steel. This week, they'll be able to get a special "collector" photo -- one with Superman wearing a black armband.

The Metropolis Chamber of Commerce put the armband on the statue last week in memory of Stan Lee, the Marvel comic book writer and publisher who helped create a legion of iconic superheroes. Lee passed away November 12 at the age of 95.

Amanda King at the Metro Chamber told West Kentucky Star that the armband will remain on Superman's left bicep until this Friday. After that, Superman will be decked out for the holidays with his annual Santa hat.

The statue is accessible for photos 24 hours a day on Superman Square in downtown Metropolis, next to the Massac County courthouse. Across the street, the Metro Chamber office is open seven days a week with Superman merchandise, and information about other attractions and events in Metropolis.
