According to Metropolis Police, they were called Tuesday to a home on Hankins Circle, and were told by the victim that she had to flee her home after she was allegedly choked and struck by 49-year-old Christopher Harris of Metropolis. He was not there, but the victim was taken to the police department so photos and a statement could be taken.
Police went back to the home when they learned Harris had returned, was armed, and was threatening to hurt himself. After trying to get him to come out peacefully, police officers, help from the Massac County Sheriff's Department and Illinois State Police, entered the home and arrested Harris.
He was charged with domestic battery and possession of a firearm without an FOID (Firearm Owners ID) card. He was booked into the Massac County Detention Center.
