Vigils, prayer circles and other gestures of support across the region were quickly organized -- many by fellow students -- in support of the students, faculty, staff and community of Marshall County High School.

Many students gathered at their respective schools before classes on Wednesday morning, including McCracken County, Paducah Tilghman, St. Mary and Massac County.

West Kentucky Community and Technical College held a vigil at noon on Tuesday in the Haws Gym. Several Marshall County students attend Middle College on the campus.

Lyon County Schools held a prayer service Tuesday evening at their high school, as did numerous churches in western Kentucky.

Western Kentucky students who attend the Paducah Area Technology Center have organized a car wash and bake sale to take place this Friday (see related story.)

The Massac County Lady Patriots basketball team wore orange ribbons at their game on Tuesday night.

Carson Center staff also wore orange and blue ribbons at Tuesday night's performance.

A number of local businesses have been printing t-shirts with slogans like "Marshall Strong" and "We Are Marshall," with proceeds going to benefit affected Marshall County families.
