A West Frankfort man was arrested Sunday on domestic violence charges after witnesses called police about an altercation at a Metropolis laundromat.

The Metropolis Police Department says officers were called to J&J Laundry on E. 5th St. Witnesses said 46-year-old Bobby R. Coleman of West Frankfort had assaulted a woman and damaged her car.

Police said they spoke with the victim, who was bleeding from her nose and mouth, and had a torn shirt. The woman's vehicle also had damage to the door.

Coleman was arrested and charged with domestic battery.  A computer check revealed that he was also wanted on warrants in Jefferson County for probation violations.

Coleman was booked into the Massac County Detention Center.
