Two people are dead and two others injured after a southern Illinois shooting that police are calling a murder-suicide.

West Frankfort Police Chief Shawn Talluto told the (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan that 42-year-old Ray Adams was killed Tuesday night.

Talluto identified the alleged shooter as 32-year-old Harvey Wilder, who also went by the first name of Matthew. Wilder also was found dead at the West Frankfort home. Police say he fired at officers when they arrived at the home, but the chief didn't indicate whether any officers had been struck.

Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler said that one of the other two shooting victims had surgery for multiple gunshot wounds at a St. Louis-area hospital. Both victims were listed in stable condition.

One of the two survivors is a juvenile.
