A single-vehicle crash in McCracken County Friday night left the driver in the hospital.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, the crash happened along the 11,000 block of Woodville Road Friday at around 9:30 pm.

Deputies say 18-year-old Melissa Ross of Kevil was crossing a set of railroad tracks when her vehicle ran off the road near Rogers Road and hit some trees in a resident's yard.

Deputies say Ross had to be removed from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life. She was transported to a local hospital, then transferred to an out of state hospital for further treatment.

Deputies say speed is believed to be a contributing factor in this collision.

Ross was also cited to court for the possession of marijuana located within the vehicle during the course of the investigation.
