Yes it's true.  Paducah is number one in the nation when it comes to the amount of fast food restaurants versus the population of the city, according to the website, FindTheHome.com.

The website calculated the fifty "fast food capitals" that are home to the most fast food restaurants per person in each state. According to their findings, Paducah is number one by a long shot with 13.18 fast food restaurants per 10,000 people, which according to the survey is more than any other town in the country.

The number two spot in the nation belongs to Durant, Oklahoma with 10.90 fast food restaurants per 10,000 people. Beckley, West Virginia (10.84) rounds out the top three.

By contrast, the so-called "capitals" of most northeastern states have less than five fast food places per 10,000. Norwalk, Connecticut (1.84) and Fall River, Massachusetts (1.92) are at the bottom of the rankings of state representatives.

The St. Louis suburb of Belleville was tabbed the fast food capital of Illinois at 6.47, good for 24th in the nation. Kingsport is top of the heap in Tennessee at 7.57, which is 14th nationally. Farmington at 8.71 makes Missouri 12th on the list.

While Paducah is touted as being number one in the nation, it's probably a good idea to realize that 13.18 restaurants per 10,000 people only equals 33 fast food restaurants across the city, which has five exits off an interstate. Paducah is also a regional economic and medical hub that draws far more people than the city's population for shopping and eating.
