Police have arrested a McCracken County man for his alleged role in a Monday morning robbery at a local restaurant.

An employee at the Waffle House on Clarks River Road told Paducah Police that a man came into the restaurant shortly before 1:00 am brandishing a handgun and demanding money. The employee gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash and the robber fled on foot.

A few hours after releasing a photo of the alleged robber, detectives identified the suspect as 22-year-old Jamaal L. Winston of Paducah.

Detectives said that during their investigation, they learned Winston went to Wal-Mart on Irvin Cobb Drive and stole a BB gun, then went directly to Waffle House and committed the robbery. Detectives went to his home on Homewood Avenue Tuesday afternoon and arrested him. Police said that during a search of his home they found the clothing Winston was wearing in the surveillance photograph. Winston reportedly later admitted to committing the robbery and disposing of the BB gun as he fled the scene.

Winston was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
