Dr. David Heflin has resigned as vice president of academic affairs at West Kentucky Community and Technical College, college officials announced in a press release today.

Heflin, who had been vice president for two years, had been at the college for more than 11 years, said WKCTC President Anton Reece. He resigned on Monday, January 6 to pursue other opportunities.

"We are sad to see Dr. Heflin leave us, but we are very supportive of his decision and wish him well," said Dr. Reece.

Dr. Heflin's official last day is January 31. Dr. Reece has named Dr. Renea Akin interim vice president of academic affairs. She is the associate vice president of institutional planning, research and effectiveness.

Dr. Reece said the college will conduct a nationwide search for a new vice president and a search committee will be formed to help in that search.
