West Kentucky Community and Technical College has been named in the top two online community colleges in Kentucky.

The ranking was given by Best Online Colleges: Guide to Online Schools for 2020. WKCTC, a member of the Kentucky Community and Technical College system, shares the research company's recognition with many of the KCTCS school system's sixteen community colleges, including Jefferson Community and Technical College, which was ranked first. The full list of rankings can be found at the link below.

"We are deeply appreciative of the state recognition of WKCTC's online delivery and efforts to provide flexible top-quality teaching and learning to our students," said WKCTC President Anton Reece. "The selection and ranking criteria include retention, program variety, and graduation, which are the success outcomes we are firmly committed to and prepare our students for careers and four-year programs."

The method used in the rankings utilize numerous factors deemed important to the success of the schools, including their retention rate, graduation rate, and the variety of programs available. In addition, the rankings weigh the percentage of students enrolled in the schools online degrees specifically, as an indicator of the success of the college's remote education program. These data points were collected by the National Center for Education Statistics. According to their release, 550 schools were researched and each one was given a score based on those factors.

The annual tuition numbers were researched as well, and represent in-state tuition for the associate degree level. Only schools that scored 70 percent or higher were included.

WKCTC has nine completely online programs, which includes associate, diploma, and certificate tracks. Those distance learners can choose from various degrees such as business administration systems, logistics, and operations management, criminal justice, medical information technology, marine technology, and computer-aided drafting and design. They also offer an associate in art and an associate in science completely online.
