Lauren Brand, U.S. Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration, will be the featured speaker for the March Power in Partnership monthly breakfast of the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce. 

The breakfast will be held on March 2 at 7:30 am at Ohio Room of the Julian Carroll Convention Center. West Kentucky Community and Technical College is the sponsor and President Anton Reece will also provide comments. 

Brand, a member of the Senior Executive Service, became the Associate Administrator responsible for Ports and Waterways programs within the Maritime Administration in January 2015. Brand directs StrongPortssm, a national port infrastructure modernization program in excess of $1.7 billion – that includes TIGER and FASTLANE discretionary funds as well as other federal assistance. 

She is responsible for the continued development of America’s Marine Highway initiative and manages the Agency’s offshore energy licensing projects (the Deepwater Port Program). She also oversees the Secretary of Transportation’s Maritime Transportation System National Advisory Committee and their efforts to address strategic maritime issues across the nation. Brand has recently been appointed to the Bureau of Transportation’s Port Performance Freight Statistics Working Group, a FACA Committee formed to develop relevant performance measures for the maritime industry in the U.S., the Department of Transportation’s National Advisory Committee on Travel and Transportation Infrastructure and is active in the Department’s Build America Bureau.

Brand has a degree in Transportation from Niagara University, a US Customhouse Broker license and earned a Professional Port Manager Certification from the American Association of Port Authorities.
