Two women were arrested Oct. 9 after police say a traffic stop revealed a large amount of heroin and methamphetamine in their car.

The Paducah Police Department says officers responded shortly after 10:00 am to a complaint in the area of Exit 4 on Interstate 24. Police said an officer spotted a vehicle being driven recklessly, and stopped it. The driver, 48-year-old Terry Stone, of Clarkson and her passenger, 39-year-old Nancy Stamper, of Lexington were arrested after officers reportedly found more than two pounds of heroin and more than three pounds of meth. Police said the drugs have a street value of more than $270,000.

Both suspects were booked into McCracken County Regional Jail. Investigators say they believe the two were enroute to eastern Kentucky when they were stopped and arrested.

Stone is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (heroin) (second or greater offense), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), importing heroin and firstdegree possession of a controlled substance (cocaine). Stamper is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (heroin) (second or greater offense), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).

Police said the case is still under investigation.
