Two people sustained reported minor injuries Thursday morning in a two vehicle collision involving a Paducah police cruiser.

Officer Matthew Strohmeier said he was northbound on Joe Clifton Drive and had stopped to make a left turn onto Clay Street.

Another vehicle was southbound, and had stopped in the on-coming lane to make a left turn onto Clay Street, as well. A car driven by David T. Johnson was behind the oncoming vehicle in the inside lane.

As Strohmeier turned left, Johnson moved his car into the outside lane to avoid having to stop for the vehicle turning left. In doing so, his car hit Strohmeier’s cruiser in the passenger side.

Johnson and his passenger, 40-year-old Trenia Wren-Kortz, of Paducah, were taken to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment of injuries. Officer Strohmeier did not seek medical treatment.
