A Hopkinsville pair were arrested Tuesday after police seized more than a pound and a half of meth at a local gas station.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office says drug division detectives began a drug investigation earlier this month after learning a Hopkinsville man known as “Terp” was selling meth in the county.

Detectives identified “Terp” as 43-year-old Kevin Terpening, 43 of Hopkinsville. They also discovered Terpening had an extensive criminal history and had served time in prison. They learned Terpening was delivering meth at a gas station located at 7050 Benton Road, and later saw Terpening meet a woman there, later identified as 47-year-old Melissa Cusano of Hopkinsville.

Deputies found a small quantity of meth on Cusano,  and found about 10 grams of meth and various items of drug paraphernalia in Terpening's vehicle. They later found an additional 1.6 pounds of meth concealed in the spare tire of the vehicle.

Detectives estimate the street value of the meth to be more than $63,000.

Both Terpening and Cusano were arrested and booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail. Terpening is charged with trafficking in meth, second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. Cusano is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
