Two Illinois residents are facing numerous charges in Paducah after reportedly fleeing from officers.

On Tuesday, officers with the Paducah Police Department were called to Cairo Road after a vehicle that was allegedly fleeing from the Massac County Sheriff's Department, crashed into a pole while leaving the interstate.

The driver of the vehicle, 35-year-old Desmond Jiles, allegedly fled from the vehicle but was caught a short time later. Officers say that Jiles provided a false name, and was later found to have an arrest warrant for an escape from Cook County, Illinois.

The passenger in the vehicle, 37-year-old Amber Sanato, was cited for possession of marijuana.

Jiles was charged with first degree wanton endangerment, first degree criminal mischief, providing a false name, leaving the scene of an accident, and being a fugitive from another state.
