Two-Car Collision at I-24 Interchange Hurts Four

Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night at the interchange of I-24 and Highway 68.

McCracken County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the scene at 5:07 pm, and learned that a car, driven by 29-year-old Hema Venkata Vemuri of Cape Girardeau, MO, was attempting to cross Highway 68 from the Interstate 24 westbound exit ramp to the entrance ramp, when it collided with an eastbound car on Highway 68, driven by 32-year-old James Mills of Paducah.

The passenger in Venkata's car, 26-year-old Samartany Atputhavinayakan of Cape Girardeau, and the passenger in Mills' vehicle, 29-year-old Tiffany Dudley of Paducah, were injured along with both drivers. They were taken by Mercy EMS to Lourdes and Western Baptist Hospitals for treatment. Members of the Reidland-Farley Fire Department assisted at the scene.
